A Successful BUCS Regatta for UBBC
UBBC had one of their most successful BUCS (British Universities and College Sport) Regattas in recent years, finishing in the top 10 of the overall Victor Ludorum standings (and 8th in the men's standings).
A newly formed crew took Silver in Men's Championship Lightweight 8+, beating crews from Queens Belfast, Oxford, Nottingham, Durham and Exeter.
They had us on the edge of our seats during the semi - final, @nathalierappaport deciding that rowing is more interesting if you give everyone else a little head start... In the final this group of heroes showed true grit and determination to achieve an incredible result. #bringinghomethebacon #bringhomethebronze #thisgirlcan #thisgirldid #yeahthewomen #bristol #rowing #cannotagio #rudern #aviron
The recently improved strength of UBBC's Women's programme was rewarded with a bronze medal in Women's Intermediate Coxed 4, with Bristol finishing just 0.6s behind Oxford Brookes and beating UL, Oxford, Durham and Edinburgh.
Following time trials and semi-finals, UBBC crews achieved places in 'A' finals (top 6 finish) for 15 events, and secured an overall top 10 finish in the Victor Ludorum.
In addition to UBBC's success, Alex Steventon (UBBC 2010-2015) won a silver medal for ULBC in Men's Championship 8, separating 2 crews from Oxford Brookes in a thrilling final.
Alumni support has been highly valued in helping UBBC achieve this success. Students use boats, oars and equipment previously donated by UBBC Alumni. In addition to financial support, UBBC has received voluntary coaching from alumni. UBBC thanks Peter Jones (UBBC 2011-2014) and Hugh Cooper (UBBC 2008-2012) for their time and effort coaching UBBC's Novice Women this year.

Nonesuch Boat Club begins its 2017 Summer Season
Over the May bank holiday weekend, Nonesuch Boat Club began preparation for the 2017 season of summer racing. A crew of UBBC Alumni with graduation years ranging from 2008 to 2016 took to the familiar stretch of the River Avon at Saltford to dust off the cobwebs, coached by Seb Tjornelund (UBBC 2011).
For the first time Nonesuch BC hopes to run a women's programme alongside the more-established men's squad, with the aim of sending VIIIs to both Henley Women's Regatta and Henley Royal Regatta.
